Creative tourism among the trends presented at the Conference on the Future of Tourism in Gipúzkoa, Basque Country.

The director of the Creative Tourism Network, Caroline Couret, had the honor of speaking at the Conference on the theme Redefining the Future of Tourism“, organized by the Diputation of Gipúzkoa, at the Irun Congress Palace.

This high-level meeting was inaugurated by the Minister of Tourism of Spain, Excma. Rosana Morillo Rodríguez, the Advisor of Commerce and Tourism of the Basque Government, Javier Hurtado, the Deputy of Tourism of Gipúzkoa, Azahara Domínguez, and the mayor of Irún, Cristina Laborda.

A panel of national and international experts such as Claudio Milano (International Consultant), Begoña Guzmán (UNESCO Etxea), Snorri Valsson (Icelandic Tourism), Xavier Morant Verdejo (Manises, UNESCO Creative City), as well as innovative entrepreneurs from the Basque Country, such as Nagore Urdapilleta (urdapilleta.eu), Carlos García Sánchez (thesocialhub) and Gaizka Perez Caballero (gaztainuzketa) exchanged transversal visions and good practices of strategies and initiatives capable of converting tourism into a lever of sustainable development.

For Caroline Couret, such an event makes sense, in a region whose cultural identity and diversity represent considerable assets for banking on this creative and virtuous tourism.

The event attracted a large audience of professionals from the public and private sectors.

Congratulations to the entire Gipukoa Diputation team and its director Iñigo Garvi, for this deserved success, which will undoubtedly mark a turning point in the positioning of the destination among new generations of travelers in search of authenticity and human values!
