The Caribbean holds immense potential to position itself as a key player in the global creative tourism market. With its vibrant cultural heritage, rich artistic traditions, and diverse communities, the region is uniquely placed to offer immersive, authentic, and co-created tourism experiences that go far beyond traditional sun-and-sea packages.

In the context of growing global demand for more meaningful, sustainable, and experience-based travel, it is more relevant than ever for the Caribbean to diversify its tourism offerings. Creative tourism—which connects travellers with local culture through hands-on, participatory experiences—can drive circular and virtuous tourism models. These models contribute to local economies, empower communities, and foster a deeper respect for cultural identities and ecosystems.

The TRANSCULTURA Programme, implemented by UNESCO and funded by the European Union, is already yielding remarkable results in this direction.

By supporting young Caribbean entrepreneurs from the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) and the tourism sector, TRANSCULTURA has helped bring to life a range of innovative and marketable creative tourism experiences. These initiatives not only showcase the talent and ingenuity of Caribbean youth but also serve as a blueprint for a more inclusive and resilient tourism future.

The experiences showcased on this page have been co-created through a comprehensive training and mentoring process led by the Creative Tourism Network®, within the framework of the TRANSCULTURA Programme. This dynamic process has enabled participants to transform their ideas into unique, high-quality offerings that reflect the richness and diversity of Caribbean culture.
