The winners of the 12th edition of the Creative Tourism Awards have just been revealed and the red carpet is spectacular! From New Orleans to Japan, passing through Easter Island, Salvador da Bahia or Cannes, French Riviera, … creativity is everywhere!
These prestigious awards, created by the Creative Tourism Network® in 2014, honor companies, projects, and destinations worldwide that highlight their commitment to creative tourism—a sustainable model that meets the new demands of travelers for authentic and innovative experiences.
The applications’ quantity, diversity, and high quality showcase the vitality of creative tourism globally and the profound transformations within the travel industry.
The Creative Tourism Awards aim to reward those who promote creative tourism in all its forms, reflecting the regenerative values it offers local communities. With a jury composed of international experts in tourism marketing and the creative economy, the awards process has proven to be a rigorous one, with the winners selected from a pool of 178 proposals spanning 16 countries. These proposals were judged based on originality, the ability to create local ecosystems, and adherence to sustainability principles.
This year’s selection further demonstrates the growth and importance of creative tourism, with a focus on authenticity, innovation, and sustainability. Whether for a small village or a bustling megalopolis, creative tourism thrives through the co-creation of experiences that involve both locals and tourists. The enthusiasm for these awards reflects the adaptable and virtuous nature of creative tourism, which can be tailored to different stakeholders, territories, and contexts.
As Caroline Couret, Director of the Creative Tourism Network®, stated, “The success of participation and the diversity of projects and geographical areas testifies to the liveliness and relevance of this tourism, offering a sustainable model adaptable to any types of territory. Moreover, the fact that the winners range from large-scale projects to smaller, more localized ones shows that creativity can be everyone’s prerogative.”
In addition to these awards’ recognition, the winners will benefit from international promotion by the Creative Tourism Network®, along with collaborations and synergies with other network members and partner organizations. By fostering good practices and recognizing projects that highlight sustainability and resilience, the Creative Tourism Awards celebrate a tourism model that generates long-lasting value.
The Creative Tourism Network® continues to lead the way in promoting tourism that is not only creatively enriching but also empowers local communities, ensuring the sustainable development of destinations worldwide. Founded in 2010 with support from the European Union, it has quickly expanded globally. A key partner of UNESCO, UN Tourism, and Ministries worldwide, the Network is a platform for promoting and supporting creative tourism through collaboration with destinations, tourism professionals, cultural entities, and creative industries. It aims to enhance the visibility and impact of creative tourism, generating sustainable benefits for local communities and territories of all kinds.
