The Crazy about the Caribbean Kids Workshop is a vibrant, hands-on arts and culture experience inspired by the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book. Designed to spark creativity and cultural pride, the workshop blends gamification of Caribbean cultural forms, traditional Caribbean crafts, storyteling, activity sheets and music in a fun, interactive setting. It’s where young minds explore their roots, express themselves artisticaly, and fal in love with the Caribbean, one activity at a time.

Kids ages 6–11 wil step into a world of colour, rhythm, and Caribbean magic as they kick off with a lively Crazy about the Caribbean greeting and introduction. Guided by passionate facilitators, they’l dive into exciting stations inspired by the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book; crafting, traditional games, drama games, storyteling, and more. Each child wil further explore Caribbean traditions through hands-on art, playful chalenges, and cultural games. By day’s end, children wil leave beaming with pride, new knowledge, and a deeper love for the Caribbean. Parents wil have the option to purchase the SCAN-Tivity Book, or recieve free printable activities with scannable video links to extend the experience at home. Everyone leaves inspired, connected, and crazy about the Caribbean!

Evelyn Caesar Munroe -Workshop Host

Evelyn Caesar Munroe Evelyn Caesar Munroe is at home whether treading the boards of a theatre, belting out a powerful note in concert, dancing with passion in a production, or performing for the camera. With over 25 years of experience, she has lived and breathed performance, becoming a vibrant force in Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural and theatrical landscape. Evelyn continues to shine as a performer, educator, and cultural advocate. Evelyn’s love for Caribbean culture and storyteling extends beyond the stage, Evelyn’s love for Caribbean culture and storyteling extends beyond the stage, she has furthered her studies in Caribbean cultural expression, enriching her work with a deeper understanding of the region’s artistic traditions. Her mission is to inspire the next generation through meaningful, culturaly rooted artistic experiences.

Tafar Chia Lewis-Benjamin- Workshop Facilitator

Tafar Chia Lewis Benjamin Tafar Chia Lewis Benjamin is a dynamic Trinidadian theatre artist, educator, and cultural innovator. A proud member of the National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDATT), she holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), where she honed her craft on international stages and deepened her commitment to impactful storyteling. Under her leadership, Teatro Journee has brought to life a wide array of enriching projects, including festivals, original stage productions, cultural arts camps for children, and transformative workshops and classes for adults.

Nickose Layne- Workshop Facilitator

Nickose Layne Nickose Layne is a radio broadcaster, thespian, filmmaker, and programme analyst dedicated to celebrating and preserving Caribbean culture. He has directed and performed in acclaimed productions across Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, and Haiti, earning awards such as Best Director at both the National Drama Festival and the Theatre Guild Awards, as wel as Guyana’s National Youth Award for Excelence in Performing Arts and Culture. Through his diverse platforms; whether on stage, on screen, or on air, he continues to champion Caribbean identity, celebrate its resilience, and create meaningful work that educates, unites, and inspires.

Rochelle Bryan- Workshop Facilitator

Rochele Bryan Rochele Bryan is a passionate visual artist and motion designer dedicated to the power of art in youth development and community growth. A graduate of the Savannah Colege of Art and Design with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Motion Media Design, she has earned honors and awards for her creativity and academic excelence. Rochele has led and supported several youth-centered community programs, using art as a tool for engagement, expression, and empowerment. Whether crafting vibrant motion graphics or mentoring young creatives, she brings a spirit of curiosity, colaboration, and a deep commitment to positive impact.

Rachel Henry- Host/Workshop Facilitator

Rachel Henry Rachel Henry is a passionate cultural creative, theatre practitioner, and graphic designer dedicated to celebrating Caribbean heritage through the arts. She is the creator of Crazy about the Caribbean, a vibrant children’s brand that includes the SCAN-Tivity Book, kids’ workshops, and an engaging YouTube series that bring regional culture to life for young audiences. With a background in corporate design and a heart for theatre in education, Rachel blends storyteling, interactivity, and tradition to spark curiosity, creativity, and Caribbean pride in every project she touches.

What makes the Crazy about the Caribbean Kids Workshop truly unique is its one-of-a-kind fusion of culture, creativity, and technology, al designed just for children. It’s not just another arts workshop, it’s an immersive Caribbean journey where kids build and discover th richness of their heritage in fun, hands-on ways. The experience is powered by the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book, which blends traditional activities with modern interactivity, scannable QR codes unlock videos, bringing stories, crafts, and songs to life beyond the workshop. Add in vibrant facilitators, authentic cultural content, and take-home materials like free printables and book access, and you’ve got a program that celebrates identity, sparks creativity, and leaves a lasting impact on both kids and parents.

This workshop is for parents who seek kid friendly cultural programs, for their children to experience meaningful, enjoyable, culturaly rich experiences. By fostering a deeper connection to their roots, and preserving cultural forms, the workshop helps young participants build confidence, cultural pride, and creative thinking skils. At the same time, parents and kids benefit from access to resources, including the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book, printables, and educational videos, that extend the experience into the home, encouraging shared learning and lasting family memories.

Period: This program wil be a year-long program, traveling to new community spaces every 2 weeks, idealy on the weekend (exceptions can be made for weekday workshops in the case of school visits.)

Duration: The experience would be (2) Hours long (Consisting of 1 (15) minute intro and 2 (45) minute workshop sessions for kids). School visits however, would be (1) hour long.

Participants: min 15 children … max 60 children

Location: The first event would be conducted at the Diego Martin Public Library – Children’s Library, Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago. This workshop however, would be touring to different community spaces, such as; Libraries, Community Centres, Schools, Cultural Centres, Book Shops within Trinidad and Tobago, expanding to different Caribbean territories and the diaspora.

To participate in the Workshop is FREE for participants, however a package is available for $185TTD inclusive of The Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book 

Children participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, wear comfortable clothing and come prepared to learn and have fun.
