The Crazy about the Caribbean Kids Workshop is a vibrant, hands-on arts and culture experience inspired by the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book. Designed to spark creativity and cultural pride, the workshop blends gamification of Caribbean cultural forms, traditional Caribbean crafts, storyteling, activity sheets and music in a fun, interactive setting. It’s where young minds explore their roots, express themselves artisticaly, and fal in love with the Caribbean, one activity at a time.

Kids ages 6–11 wil step into a world of colour, rhythm, and Caribbean magic as they kick off with a lively Crazy about the Caribbean greeting and introduction. Guided by passionate facilitators, they’l dive into exciting stations inspired by the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book; crafting, traditional games, drama games, storyteling, and more. Each child wil further explore Caribbean traditions through hands-on art, playful chalenges, and cultural games. By day’s end, children wil leave beaming with pride, new knowledge, and a deeper love for the Caribbean. Parents wil have the option to purchase the SCAN-Tivity Book, or recieve free printable activities with scannable video links to extend the experience at home. Everyone leaves inspired, connected, and crazy about the Caribbean!

With over 25 years of experience, she has lived and breathed performance, becoming a vibrant force in Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural and theatrical landscape. Evelyn continues to shine as a performer, educator, and cultural advocate. Evelyn’s love for Caribbean culture and storyteling extends beyond the stage, Evelyn’s love for Caribbean culture and storyteling extends beyond the stage, she has furthered her studies in Caribbean cultural expression, enriching her work with a deeper understanding of the region’s artistic traditions. Her mission is to inspire the next generation through meaningful, culturaly rooted artistic experiences.

Tafar Chia Lewis-Benjamin- Workshop Facilitator

Tafar Chia Lewis Benjamin Tafar Chia Lewis Benjamin is a dynamic Trinidadian theatre artist, educator, and cultural innovator. A proud member of the National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDATT), she holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), where she honed her craft on international stages and deepened her commitment to impactful storyteling. Nickose Layne Nickose Layne is a radio broadcaster, thespian, filmmaker, and programme analyst dedicated to celebrating and preserving Caribbean culture. He has directed and performed in acclaimed productions across Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, and Haiti, earning awards such as Best Director at both the National Drama Festival and the Theatre Guild Awards, as wel as Guyana’s National Youth Award for Excelence in Performing Arts and Culture. A graduate of the Savannah Colege of Art and Design with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Motion Media Design, she has earned honors and awards for her creativity and academic excelence. Rochele has led and supported several youth-centered community programs, using art as a tool for engagement, expression, and empowerment. Whether crafting vibrant motion graphics or mentoring young creatives, she brings a spirit of curiosity, colaboration, and a deep commitment to positive impact.

This workshop is for parents who seek kid friendly cultural programs, for their children to experience meaningful, enjoyable, culturaly rich experiences. By fostering a deeper connection to their roots, and preserving cultural forms, the workshop helps young participants build confidence, cultural pride, and creative thinking skils. At the same time, parents and kids benefit from access to resources, including the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book, printables, and educational videos, that extend the experience into the home, encouraging shared learning and lasting family memories.

Period: This program wil be a year-long program, traveling to new community spaces every 2 weeks, idealy on the weekend (exceptions can be made for weekday workshops in the case of school visits.)

Duration: The experience would be (2) Hours long (Consisting of 1 (15) minute intro and 2 (45) minute workshop sessions for kids). School visits however, would be (1) hour long.

Participants: min 15 children … max 60 children

To participate in the Workshop is FREE for participants, however a package is available for $185TTD inclusive of The Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book

L’atelier “Crazy about the Caribbean Kids Workshop” est une expérience culturelle et artistique vibrante et pratique, inspirée du livre d’activités “Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN‑Tivity Book”. Conçu pour stimuler la créativité et la fierté culturelle, cet atelier mêle gamification des formes culturelles caribéennes, artisanat traditionnel, contes, fiches d’activité et musique dans un cadre interactif et ludique. Là où les jeunes esprits explorent leurs racines, s’expriment artistiquement et tombent amoureux des Caraïbes, une activité à la fois.

Les enfants de 6 à 11 ans plonge
ront dans un monde de couleur, de rythme et de magie caribéenne, avec un accueil animé “Crazy about the Caribbean” et une introduction. Guidés par des animateurs passionnés, ils découvriront des stations inspirées du livre SCAN‑Tivity : artisanat, jeux traditionnels caribéens, jeux dramatiques, contes et bien plus. Chaque enfant explorera davantage les traditions caribéennes à travers l’art pratique, défis ludiques et jeux culturels. À la fin de la journée, les enfants repartiront radieux, riches de nouveaux savoirs et un amour plus profond des Caraïbes. Les parents auront la possibilité d’acheter le SCAN‑Tivity Book ou de recevoir gratuitement des activités imprimables avec liens vidéos scannables pour prolonger l’expérience à la maison. Tafar Chia Lewis Benjamin est une artiste de théâtre dynamique, éducatrice et innovatrice culturelle de Trinité. Membre de la National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDATT), elle est titulaire d’une Maîtrise en Beaux-Arts (Master of Fine Arts) en interprétation du prestigieux Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), où elle a affiné son métier sur les scènes internationales et approfondi son engagement en faveur d’un récit porteur de sens. Fondatrice visionnaire de Teatro Journee, une compagnie artistique dédiée à la création d’expériences innovantes, éducatives et divertissantes par le biais du théâtre et des arts. Sous sa direction, Teatro Journee a mené à bien une série de projets enrichissants, incluant des festivals, productions originales, camps culturels pour enfants, et ateliers transformateurs pour adultes.

Nickose Layne Nickose Layne is a radio broadcaster, thespian, filmmaker, and programme analyst dedicated to celebrating and preserving Caribbean culture. He has directed and performed in acclaimed productions across Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, and Haiti, earning awards such as Best Director at both the National Drama Festival and the Theatre Guild Awards, as wel as Guyana’s National Youth Award for Excelence in Performing Arts and Culture. A graduate of the Savannah Colege of Art and Design with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Motion Media Design, she has earned honors and awards for her creativity and academic excelence. Rochele has led and supported several youth-centered community programs, using art as a tool for engagement, expression, and empowerment. Whether crafting vibrant motion graphics or mentoring young creatives, she brings a spirit of curiosity, colaboration, and a deep commitment to positive impact.

By fostering a deeper connection to their roots, and preserving cultural forms, the workshop helps young participants build confidence, cultural pride, and creative thinking skils. At the same time, parents and kids benefit from access to resources, including the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book, printables, and educational videos, that extend the experience into the home, encouraging shared learning and lasting family memories.

Period: This program wil be a year-long program, traveling to new community spaces every 2 weeks, idealy on the weekend (exceptions can be made for weekday workshops in the case of school visits.)

Duration: The experience would be (2) Hours long (Consisting of 1 (15) minute intro and 2 (45) minute workshop sessions for kids). School visits however, would be (1) hour long.

The Crazy about the Caribbean Kids Workshop is a vibrant, hands-on arts and culture experience inspired by the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book. Designed to spark creativity and cultural pride, the workshop blends gamification of Caribbean cultural forms, traditional Caribbean crafts, storyteling, activity sheets and music in a fun, interactive setting. It’s where young minds explore their roots, express themselves artisticaly, and fal in love with the Caribbean, one activity at a time.

Kids ages 6–11 wil step into a world of colour, rhythm, and Caribbean magic as they kick off with a lively Crazy about the Caribbean greeting and introduction. Guided by passionate facilitators, they’l dive into exciting stations inspired by the Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book; crafting, traditional games, drama games, storyteling, and more. Each child wil further explore Caribbean traditions through hands-on art, playful chalenges, and cultural games. By day’s end, children wil leave beaming with pride, new knowledge, and a deeper love for the Caribbean. Parents wil have the option to purchase the SCAN-Tivity Book, or recieve free printable activities with scannable video links to extend the experience at home. Everyone leaves inspired, connected, and crazy about the Caribbean!

Evelyn Caesar Munroe Evelyn Caesar Munroe is at home whether treading the boards of a theatre, belting out a powerful note in concert, dancing with passion in a production, or performing for the camera. With over 25 years of experience, she has lived and breathed performance, becoming a vibrant force in Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural and theatrical landscape. Evelyn continues to shine as a performer, educator, and cultural advocate. Evelyn’s love for Caribbean culture and storyteling extends beyond the stage, Evelyn’s love for Caribbean culture and storyteling extends beyond the stage, she has furthered her studies in Caribbean cultural expression, enriching her work with a deeper understanding of the region’s artistic traditions. Her mission is to inspire the next generation through meaningful, culturaly rooted artistic experiences.

Tafar Chia Lewis Benjamin Tafar Chia Lewis Benjamin is a dynamic Trinidadian theatre artist, educator, and cultural innovator. A proud member of the National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDATT), she holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), where she honed her craft on international stages and deepened her commitment to impactful storyteling. El taller infantil “Crazy about the Caribbean” es una experiencia vibrante, práctica y cultural, inspirada en el libro de actividades “Crazy about the Caribbean SCAN-Tivity Book”. Diseñado para despertar la creatividad y el orgullo cultural, el taller combina la gamificación de las formas culturales caribeñas, manualidades tradicionales, cuentacuentos, hojas de actividades y música en un ambiente interactivo y divertido. Es un espacio donde las mentes jóvenes exploran sus raíces, se expresan artísticamente y se enamoran del Caribe, una actividad a la vez.

Niños de 6 a 11 años se sumergirán en un mundo de color, ritmo y magia caribeña empezando con un saludo animado y una introducción “Locos por el Caribe”. Guiados por facilitadores apasionados, recorrerán estaciones inspiradas en el libro SCAN-Tivity: manualidades, juegos tradicionales, juegos dramáticos, cuentacuentos y más. Cada niño explorará aún más las tradiciones caribeñas a través de arte práctico, retos lúdicos y juegos culturales. Al finalizar el día, los niños saldrán radiantes de orgullo, con nuevos conocimientos y un amor más profundo por el Caribe. Los padres tendrán la opción de comprar el SCAN-Tivity Book o recibir actividades imprimibles gratuitas con enlaces a vídeos para extender la experiencia en casa. ¡Todos salen inspirados, conectados y locos por el Caribe!

Con más de 25 años de experiencia, ha vivido y respirado la interpretación, convirtiéndose en una figura vibrante en el panorama cultural y teatral de Trinidad y Tobago. Continúa brillando como intérprete, educadora y defensora cultural. Su amor por la cultura caribeña y la narración va más allá del escenario; ha profundizado estudios en la expresión cultural caribeña, enriqueciendo su trabajo con una comprensión más profunda de las tradiciones artísticas de la región. Su misión es inspirar a la próxima generación a través de experiencias artísticas con profundas raíces culturales.
