On the lead-up to the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development MONDIACULT 2025 and the World Tourism Day, this webinar explores how creative tourism fosters sustainable development in the Caribbean. Experts from UNESCO, the Creative Tourism Network®, the Caribbean Tourism Organization and a young entrepreneur share insights, best practices and inspiring examples of how creative tourism can drive inclusive economic growth, protect heritage and foster innovation.

This session is designed as an exchange of insights and best practices based on projects
carried out in the Caribbean and Latin America that have positioned creative tourism as
a vector for sustainable development through the promotion of local know-how and
intangible heritage.

Speakers will reflect on the challenges and opportunities generated by these initiatives,
drawing from their respective backgrounds and geographical contexts.

Each intervention will offer transferable advice aligned with MONDIACULT’s values and the
contingencies of emerging economic models.
The session will conclude with a collective commitment affirming the role of creative

The Transcultura programme is a five-year regional initiative implemented by UNESCO and funded by the European Union. It aims at deepening cultural integration in the Caribbean and strengthening cooperation in the Caribbean and with the European Union. It does so by professionalizing the cultural and creative sector in the Caribbean and creating opportunities for entrepreneurship. It targets young professionals in the cultural and creative sector, between the ages of 18 and 35, from the 17 Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), all of which are SIDS.

With over twenty years of leadership in the creative tourism sector, the Creative Tourism Network® is an internationally recognized organization that collaborates with UNESCO, UN Tourism, the World Bank, GIZ, and numerous ministries around the world. The Creative Tourism Network® actively contributes to shaping cultural and tourism policies globally, promoting creativity, sustainability and the active participation of local communities.
