In the south of Baden, directly on the border with Switzerland and France, lies the trumpeter town of Bad Säckingen. The poet Joseph Victor von Scheffel once made the tranquil town famous when he published his verse epic “The Trumpeter of Säckingen“. Even today, the figure of the trumpeter is THE symbol of the town. It can be found together with the tomcat Hiddigeigei in the romantic and atmospheric old town. The lovers sung about in Scheffel’s epic once strolled in today’s castle park.

Stroll along the Rhine promenade and take in the view of the mighty Rhine, St. Fridolin’s Minster, and the longest covered wooden bridge in Europe. Immerse yourself in the thermal baths and leave your everyday life behind, enjoy a walk around the mountain lake or visit a musical exclusively performed in Bad Säckingen. Take off for day trips to Switzerland, France, or the FerienWelt Südschwarzwald. Take your bike or Nordic walking sticks and head out into nature. The possibilities are numerous, the places as multifaceted as symbolic of life here on the High Rhine, in Bad Säckingen.

We wish you lots of fun, exciting impressions, and varied moments on your journey of discovery through our town. We are sure they will be numerous.
