CTN participates in UNWTO round-table

on "Community Empowerment through Creative Industries and Tourism"

The director of the Creative Tourism Network, Caroline Couret was panelist in a round-table on “Community Empowerment through Creative Industries and Tourism”, organized by the UNWTO, within the last ITB-Berlin.

In this occasion, UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai recalled that  “The growth rate of this sector requires us to look beyond its economic value and identify how to make it a force for positive transformation.

The creative tourism sector is one of those segments that enable the local communities and micro-entrepreneurs to launch their own projects and generate incomes from their creative skills.

The ART&TUR Festival and CTN create the

"Creative Tourism Film Award"

 Created in 2008, the ART&TUR International Tourism Film Festival, celebrated in Porto, is already a worldwide reference. Throughout its eight editions, it has rewarded works of cinema and quality media that promotes tourism from all over the world within its many facets.

With its interest to innovate and reflect the cultural and social wealth of the tourism sector, in this 2015 edition, creation emerges, in collaboration with the Creative Tourism Network®, international reference body for this new sector, the first international award dedicated to Creative Tourism.  This new generation of tourism, which invites travelers to live artistic and creative experiences in your destination, will be released in the ART&TUR screens next October.

The period for submission is open until next June 30th.

Creative Tourism in Japan

Japan Creative Tourism joined officially the Creative Tourism Network® within the last edition of ITB-Berlin. Strategic Manager of Le Louvre-Lens

Le Louvre-Lens, situated in the North of France, is one of our Creative Friendly Destinations. It deals with a unique one, whose challenge was to gather locals and visitors around the opening of the prestigious institution Louvre Museum. Its Strategic Director, Norbert Crozier, achieved it, in less than two years, by creating a storytelling between the inhabitants and the tourists as well as involving them in the co-creation of cultural experiences. ART OF FOOD: Culture and Food Diversity

Call for Papers!

 We are delight to share this interesting call from our partner IGCAT.

The 2nd Art of Food: Culture and Food Diversity will take place  on 1-2 July 2015 in Barcelona. This edition will look at the challenges posed by widening market. Against a backdrop of free trade agreements currently under-way between the US and EU, IGCAT experts will explore new initiatives being developed to support culture and food diversity. Also on the agenda is the new subject of Gastrodiplomacy – ‘The act of winning hearts and minds through stomachs’ (Rockower, 2010). We will look at how national and local authorities are developing international relations through food and culture. Interested experts and colleagues are invited to send short papers (500-2,000 words) to info@igcat.org by 15 May 2015.

Brazilian Conference on Creative Tourism, held in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul in October 2013, inaugurated this pioneering initiative and its adhesion to the Creative Tourism Network®.  Celebrating the first anniversary of this project, we met his founder, Luiz Fernando Schreiner Moraes, Secretary of Tourism for Porto Alegre, who offers us a balance of the first intense months.
