Yunguilla Community Tourism

The Yunguilla Conservation and Sustainable Use Area is the result of a process of community organization and environmental conservation that began in 1995, with a forest development project in the Yunguilla Community. From this project, the search for productive alternatives friendly to the environment began. Thus, organic orchards, dairy and fruit processing factories were implemented, and the first studies were carried out to implement an ecotourism program. The Community of Yunguilla is one of the largest representatives of Community Tourism at the national level, which was declared as “ACUS” Yunguilla Conservation and Sustainable Use Area due to its great importance in the conservation of flora and fauna. Yunguilla is located within the Ecological Corridor of the Andean Bear.

In the Community you can carry out various activities such as: Hiking through the Culuno GuantoPungo-Pelagallo (ancestral way of the Yumbo Culture) to participate in the daily activities of the Community such as making cheeses, jams, handicrafts, and harvesting in the organic garden.
