The Creative Tourism Network’s CEO, Caroline Couret will be lecturing at the City of Cape Town’s annual Arts and Culture ‘Indaba’ taking place 10 – 11 June 2015. The conference, takes ‘cultural promotion’ as its central theme.
Drawing on research commissioned in 2014, the Indaba will present a series of talks and discussions aimed towards developing a strategy for the promotion of Cape Town as a city recognised for its cultural vibrancy, its multiple cultural narratives and its’ strong creative and heritage product offerings. The Indaba aims to unpack the various understandings and expressions of the notion of ‘cultural promotion’ in the context of developing a cultural city.
The recently re-positioned Arts and Culture department has embarked on an ambitious programme to situate the cultural and creative industries as critical drivers within the local economy. The 2015 conference intends to provide an important platform for new ideas and strategies around the promotion of cultural activity and is aimed at industry professionals across the Cape Town cultural and creative industries.
